THE MERCURY NEWS: San Bruno: Newborn baby left at fire station

SAN BRUNO — A newborn baby left at a fire station Wednesday morning was in good health, police said.

The infant was left around 5:44 a.m. at the San Bruno Fire Department Station 52 at 1999 Earl Avenue, San Bruno police said in a news release. The baby was treated by firefighters before being taken to a hospital for examination.

Police did not say whether the baby was a boy or girl.

California’s Safely Surrendered Baby Law allows parents and other persons with lawful custody to safely surrender infants within 72 hours of birth with no charges filed or questions asked.
